Inside Jamaica, you'll probably find evidence to support your stereotypes if that's what you came for. Just as in France I can still find the old guy with a beret on his head and baguette under his arm. But if you allow yourself to see more; you'll find a diverse society, with fascinating people, not all of them rastas! ( I have nothing against rastas, I respect those who have a real conviction - a lot of them don't though) But inside Jamaica, you'll find that the middle class live far better than the French middle class. That personal safety is a big issue. In fact, this is my only real probelm with Jamaica. The issue of safety... Inside Jamaica, you'll find children of astounding talent and a deeply religious culture, where church and state are, fortunately, still linked.
