Who am I? Wouldn't you just love to know! Seriously a Jamaican in exile. With two boys who'll see their "mother's island" for the first time next summer. Who I try to speak to in English all the time; who understand but prefer to answer in French. My older son has a hard time therefore, talking to my mom who lives in the US!
But on the bright side, they'll have a dual culture and perhaps help, in an itsy bitsy way to merging the great divide between cultures?

webmistress (sounds kinda S&M doesn't it)
I've lived in France for 5 years and in spite of everything said on this site, quite enjoy the French and their tendancy to over philosophise every issue and to claim themselves as the world champions of culture and to assume that the word "culture" has only a European slant and their hypocrisy in being big consumers of everything American from the Big Mac to Barney to Bronson, on the one hand and severe Critics of all things Americans on the other...

"The French are a smallish, monkey-looking bunch and not dressed any better, on average, than the citizens of Baltimore. True, you can sit outside in Paris and drink little cups of coffee, but why this is more stylish than sitting inside and drinking large glasses of whiskey I don't know." PJ O'Rouke (this guy is the best!)

P.S. You may find some of the graphics on this site an overkill but this is my first time at this type of thing so I went overboard!

Well, we've come to the end. Questions? Comments. Mail them quickly.
